I just bought a new 5,000 btu window mount air conditioning unit. My question is:- can I mount it on its side to fit a tall skinny window I have as no one makes a window unit narrow enough that will fit my windows.

If push comes to shove by a portable A/C you just vent the hot air like you do a dryer. I can post a link about Portable A/Cs if you want me to. What size are your windows anyway.

Ok thanks for your answers - I thought this was the case but wasnt sure if new units come with some sort of lubricated freon that would allow this - thanks again for your help.
