I happened to dropped some mustard while at a barbecue on my new whites shoes!! Does anyone know an inexpensive way to clean it off. I heard dabbing it with distilled vinegar and then wash it might work. Oh yeah and the stain is on the middle part where the mesh is and got some on the shoelaces too.

Anyone got any other ideas?

i have found that mustard is a very difficult spot to remove on fabrics. The mixture of different ingredents has something to do with it. You can try a protein or enzyme spotter...allow 15-20 mins dwell then launder...depending on the color of the shoes..if that fails you can try 3% hydrogen peroxide to act as a bleaching agent...then again launder as usual

The shoe laces i would just replace.

Dont be surprised if it does not remove. Sometimes mustard even requires a UV lamp to remove it from carpet.

Yellow American mustard stains must be treated as a dye stain. You may have success blotting stain with solvent cleaner such as rubbing alcohol, denatured alcohol, or dry cleaning fluid. Spotting stain with hydrogen peroxide (an oxygenating bleach) may be helpful. (Apply and let set 20 minutes. Repeat if stain appears to get lighter.) There are also dye remover products available. (Note: Stains are best attended to immediately. Stains containing dyes are often very difficult if not impossible to remove.)

The original "Oxi Clean" (by Orange Glo company) has worked for me. It is a chlorine free multi-purpose stain remover and it has done wonders on stains including blood. I have used it on colored fabrics on furniture, carpet, clothes and shoes.

I buy the 6lb bucket of crystals. You need to dissolve an amount of crystals in hot water to activate it before cleaning with it. http://www.greatcleaners.com

P.S. I just found this cool forum! Looking forward to learning some neat stuff!

Oops. Forgot to mention it may take several applications of high-strength activated water with Oxi Clean crystals to do the job. A friend of mine sat on my brand new beige upholstered chair in the den and bled through. After several applications of the Oxi Clean, it looked brand new and did not discolor the fabric At All!!
