Planning to install a wireless system after some research , mostly reading this forum... I'm trying to decide between Simon 3 or Ademco Lynx systems.
One question I have is if I choose NOT to have the system monitored... in other words, no phone connection supplied to the control panel, will I have a constant fault or problem displayed in my system?
Thank much for any feedback.

No, both of these systems can be local only, or can call out to a pager (or properly configured cell phone). It's all in the initial system setup.
The two systems are pretty much similar in configuration and features.

I am planning to install a wireless system in my home; what do I have to have configured in my cell phone in order for the security system to call me?

For it to work best, if you have a numeric or alphanumeric paging option for your phone messaging, you will need to know all of the keystrokes it takes for an incoming call to activate the service.
Otherwise, if you don't have that option, the best you can get is your home phone number showing up on the phone's caller ID.

The Simon panel can be programmed to call 2 seperate phone numbers and will leave you a voice message of the alarm condition. With added hardware, it could also email, or text message you!
