Hi - recently bought some new pinch pleat sheers that when the drapery hooks are placed in bottom of the panel where the pleats are, and then hook the hooks into the traverse rod hangers, the sheers hang such that the tops of the draperies fall towards the middle of the room, and the bottoms (of the top pleated part) above the sheer fabric hang closer to the windows. We'd like them to hang parallel to the wall as much as possible

I wondered about pinching the hooks tighter; my wife thought that they would hang fine if we pulled out the drapery hooks from the bottom of the panel, and then stuck them higher in the panel - about 2" from the top. Her idea works, but now the top of the traverse rod shows.

Any ideas on how to get our drapes to hang like they should?

Thanks,

Dave

It's hard to tell without actually seeing them but are they readymades or custom? Does the header have buckram (a stiffener) in it? If not, there may not be enough support.
Are the spaces between the pleats going into the room or to the back? On traverse rods they need to be going towards you, not to the back or this could be causing your problem. The top of the pins should be 1 1/2 to 1 3/4" down from the top of the draperies, so 1/2" should cover the rod.

Thanks for your insights and questions. Here are some answers:

- Custom

- Yes

If not, there may not be enough support.

- Just adjusted all these - they come into the room now, but they were random before. They are pretty stiff...Should they be this stiff?

We will check this adjustment and see if that works! Thanks again!

Should they be this stiff?

Dave, they probably used a heavyweight buckram and they should be somewhat stiff, especially since you'll be traversing them, but without feeling them, don't know if they're too stiff or not.
Let me know if the tilting problem is any better.
