my garage has 2 overhead doors -one on either end --to go straight through-I am removing 1 in order to add french doors to a patio.Where i will build the walls to frame in these doors-what do i use under the sill plate to protect from water entering-or do i need to build a cement foundation for these walls? Keeping in mind -there is a pad there-where the garage door was-but it is a little un-even.

Using pressure treated wood for the new sill plate, use a generous ribbon or two of silicone to bed the sill plate in. Also, before you add your siding, flash the length of renovation that is over the old door opening area to direct the water away from the building. Be sure to silicone the new french doors, even though you have a tilting plate.

Cut it out like a regular door. The metal threshold will rest solidly on the concrete. I like to use GE Silicone II. Others prefer Lexel. Either are fine for your situation.
As a post script....you aren't installing sleepers to install your flooring, are you? If so, it is a new ball game as far as the threshold height is concerned.

no-no sleepers--its just going to be kinda like a porch in there-no flooring--there is a wall separating the actuall garage there with a walk through door.Should i use a double 2 x 6 header up there?
