 I will be putting a new ceramic floor in my half bathroom. What do I have to do to "raise" the wax ring to the proper level of the new floor. Is there a "extender" I can put in so I can raise everything to accommodate the new floor level? Thanks!

QuilterPat, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
YUP, you even got the terminology correct. Extender rings come in various thicknesses. They have a seal on one side and you line up the holes in your current flange and screw it down to the flange. Home Centers and hardware stores carry them. Good luck with your project.

You can buy an extended seal at your local home improvement store. Instead of a wax ring it is rubber. The kit is around $5 and includes longer flange bolts to attach the toilet to the soil pipe.

I ran into the same issues. I just installed ceramic tile and 1/4" backerboard. I got the No. 35B Wax Extender kit. It is supposed to be for when the floor flange is 1/4 to 1 inch lower than the finished floor but it still seems too short. I am at about an inch. The seal makes contact with the closet flange but there isn't enough room to compress the wax.

Can I get an additional wax ring (minus flange) and install it and then the extender kit piggy back or do they make a larger extender kit. Thanks.
