I installed a 832 over the last few weekends. After solving many, many other issues, I've narrowed it down to 2 that I can't solve with the manuals or the search feature here.

problem 1- I have one wireless zone for my detached garage with one motion detector. I set the zone as wireless, entered the esn and did a range test. The panel sees the wireless motion detector after you trigger it for a few minutes then displays a zone fault for it after a few minutes pass. You can clear the "zone fault" by walking out in the garage and triggering the motion. Repeat as many times as you can stand. The motion is about 75 feet from the reciever and separated by comp shingles and 3 layers of 1/2" plywood. I'm nearly certain that distance is not an issue.

Problem #2- I can't find any way to test the dialer feature of the panel. I entered my cell # (I have caller ID on my cell phone and just want to supervise the system for a while to get the problems worked out) and enabled communications. Nowhere in any of the 3 manuals can I find a way to test the dialer. I triggered the alarm instead (after bypassing the wireless zone) and it did not ring my phone. Can't find any mention of a dialer test procedure in the manuals.

thanks!

For the motion detector, make sure that the cover is on properly, otherwise the tamper switch may be triggering the problem you see. 75 feet with intervening walls and electrical wiring may be pushing the range a bit. It _should_ be longer, but local conditions may affect if. (If cell phones have weak signals in your house, then you may be in radio frequency "dead spot".)

Try moving the device closer in. If it works in a closer location, then it's just a range issue.

The command you want is "system test" under the *6 commands in the User Command section of the manual.

There are a lot of variables in programming the dialer on one of these system, so it's hard to guess why it didn't ring the phone on your initial try, without further information about exactly what you programmed into the panel.
