I'm in the process of building a new house, and will be purchasing all new appliances. Any recomendations of brands to buy or stay away from would be appreciated. I'm not looking for high end stuff, just good basic applicances.
I'm buying the following and i'm undecided on propane gas or electric. I'll be getting stainless steal for the kitchen. Just a basic W/D, nothing fancy looking as they will be in a util closet.
Dishwasher
Refridge
Stove top
Wall oven
Microwave/venthood
Washer
dryer

Hello gtm20. Welcome to my Gas Appliances topic.
Brand selection is one of several determining factors to consider when planning to make any major appliance purchase. To determine which brand or model is best, in my opinion, read the comparative testing results of the consumers buyers reports.
The intent is the obtain an independent and non biased informational report which is free of personal opinions.
From these reports you and only you can best determine for yourself which brand and which engine will provide you with the best product for it's intended usage.
Any other means will only provide you with personal opinions. All of which are selective and most likely biased based on personal observations and ownership. None of which may be the same for you and your intended usage of the equipment.
