I have a GE washer model #WBXR2060V1WW - The motor is fine, lid switch is fine, agitation is fine. It locks up on the spin cycle. I can manually turn the belt clockwise (the agitation direction) and it turns freely. I try to turn it counter clockwise for the spin and it moves 1-2 inches and I can hear it hit a blockage. It's a metal "clink" sound.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thanks - Alan.

From my experience the GE washer that you are talking about will lock in one direction. The locking is caused by a one-way bearing on the bottom of the transmission. If it agitates, and pumps water out (you said the lid switch is working), I suspect that your transmission has failed. You can nearly buy a new washer for the cost of having someone replace it.

Thanks for the reply, but I found the problem. 'Twas a pillow case caught in between the inner and outer tub. I removed it and darned if the thing didn't start working...
