got a mousepad with the gel wrist rest attached. noticed a mildewy type smell and discoloration to it......this is at my apartment. never noticed until last night. nothing GROWING on it, but the underside inside looks darkly discolored. anyone else ever have this happen? we have the same type at my office, same problem.

should i 1) blow it off, 2) clean it, 3) replace it and wait for it to reoccur?

i am in humid tampa, by the way. never got the damn thing wet, assuming this is from natural body oil/sweat, like nasty keyboards? what do you guys clean this stuf with, if anything???

Cleaning should be fine. Any idea what the outside is made of?

Just a thought... is the gel removeable? Maybe you can remove the gel and stick the mousepad/wrist attachment in the dishwasher. I'm not sure if it's a good idea if it's rubber though.

I'd try soap and water and clean it.

Keep a bottle of rubbing alcohol on hand to clean and disinfect telephones, mouse pad, keyboards, and other office equipment. Wipe with soft cloth or paper towels. Avoid paper towels on computer screens as wood fibers can scratch.
