Any help is appreciated! I had this system installed about three days ago-- the installer said that the motion detector cannot be set to "chime" mode whenever activated; but wondered if there was actually a way to do it. What are loops exactly? I see the motion is set for Loop 1 and the doors/windows are Loop 2. I was curious if this may be the answer.

The reason I'm doing this is: The motion is in a back room in my sub-basement aiming at an egress window. Nobody ever goes down there so I just want a notification (when system is not armed) that motion has been detected. Thanks again!

Btw it works perfectly in "test" mode-- but has the annoying beep every 45 secs. Otherwise I would just use this mode when we're home and not arming it.

The installer is incorrect. It has nothing to do with the loops, it has to do with the zone type selection. Just set the zone type for this zone to a perimeter zone, just like a window. If you are worried about forgetting and walking down there while the system is armed, you can set it as a delay zone, and it will give you time to disarm the system before triggering an alarm.

The "loops" are because some transmitteres have more than one activation input. Motions actually have just the one loop, while door/window transmitters have internal contacts, and an input for an external hardwired loop.

hello i am a low voltage installer and alarms is one of the things i do... your questions on loops, well it is kind of hard to explain loops are present on wireless devices like your motin detector loop 1 there is only one avail. loop on the motions, although you saw the window/door transmitter was on loop 2. loop 2 on that transmitter is the magnetic reed or "contact" loop one is also on the transmitter it is a screw terminal inside of the transmitter. with the wireless motion detectors they run a bit differently, b/c they are battery powered they will detect motion and send the signal but then will "sleep" for 3 min before reseting themselves. you were wondering how to be able to have it chime, have your installer (or if you know how to get into programming) change the motion to either a perimeter(should chime when detect motion) or trouble by day/alarm by night(will cause rapid beeping durring day and a full alarm at night... maybe not what you want if u have it monitored b/c then the cops will be at your house alot causing fines and things you dont want. any other questions just post em and i will do my best to answer them. I hope i answered your question with that... let me know.
