My primary drip pan is rusted through and my secondary pan is in bad shape. How much would it cost to call an A/C man to replace them? I know there are a lot of honest repairmen out there but I've always had bad luck picking one.

How much would a sheet metal place charge to fabricate two drip pans with side drain ports if I want to do this myself?

Thank you

I pay $60-70 for a sheet metal shop to make a stainless primary pan. The secondary pans, I buy at my local HVAC supply house then spray the inside with undercoating I get at an auto parts store.

Glad to see someone else does this. I have been using undercoating in pans for over 20 years and have never run across another contractor doing it in these parts.

Once had a client allow her coil to leak for 4 years into one of my pans. No rust or degradation at all.

We rarely change the pans in evaporators except for some apartment work. The cost of removing the coil to replace the pan is foolish if you can fit a new coil in the existing cabinet or with little sheetmetal work.
