i have a 1997 mtd 38" deck 12.5 hp briggs.blades belt broke.put on new belt after checking ALL pulleys.blades spin,mower won't move,engine pulley get VERY hot!!! anyone?:(

could be the bairings are going give it some oil and see if that helps

Sounds like maybe the varidrive pulley is stuck?? Put it in the highest gear and try it. If no go, check the brake lever on the side of the tranny. It may be stuck.
