I have four walkway slabs that have to be replaced that are cracked from a tree root. The slabs are 4'x4'x4"deep. I will be doing the work myself. I would like to use quickcrete for the job,can you tell me what type of mix i will need and how many bags. bob k. thanks

Each 4x4 pad will require about 5.33 cubic feet (unless my math is faulty). Packaged concrete mix comes in different sized bags, ranging from about 50 to about 80 lbs. The bags should tell you what the yield will be, in cubic feet. I think I remember reading the number "2/3 of a cubic foot" on a bag once. Check yours to see.
As to the mix, I would use the Quikrete 5000. It is a good, strong mix. Good luck.

60# bag is 1/2 cubic ft. Just poured 16 bags the other day. These bags call for 3 quarts of water with each bag but you may adjust that depending on how wet you want it. If my math is right that means you would need 44 bags to do those 4 pads. If it was me I would call a cement truck and have it delivered. If they are going past someday I'm sure they wouldn't mind. I would just order 1 cubic yd. Also, this would probably be cheaper and a lot less work.
