Okay, dumb question - I have a "friend" who bought his first string trimmer last year & didn't read the instructions. He used gasoline only instead of a 40:1 mixture of gas-oil. The trimmer worked fine all last year, but this year it won't start. Is the trimmer destroyed or is it salvagable?

Most likely it is done for but there is still a chance it could run again depends on how much damage is done you could take it in and have the engine rebuit but that will be a lot of money now me i would toss it and get a new its not worth fixing they are cheap

Gotta agree with lex; a whole season on straight gas means it's wasted. Surprised it lasted that long; one tankfull was enough to do serious damage.

Yep... she's pretty much toast... you could take the cylinder off and show him the piston and cylinder, they will be scared quite bad.

I think V8 meant "scored", but scared works, too. :D
