We haven't run any water in our stand up shower for about six months. I just finished recaulking the seams and cleaning the shower head. wWen I went to turn on the water, only the cold worked. Nothing happens when I turn the hot faucet on. I don't have this problem any where else in the house.
Thanks, in advance

Does the valve feel like its actually opening? Could be as simple as a stripped knob...
I would first remove the knob and try to open the valve with channel locks or similar.

oldpink, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
I would think it is a problem with a washer (two handled faucet) or the cartridge (single handle). Calcium depostis may have formed since it wasn't used for a period of time. You will have to open up the handle and see whats blocking it. Turn off the water supply before you mess with it. Good luck and let us know.

Thanks for the responses.
It turns out that I had accidently turned off the valve for that faucet a few weeks back. I live in northern Mich and had turned on my outside water back in March and then thought I should turn it off when the temps started to fall back toward freezing. The pipe for that shower and the one for my backyard fixture are right next to each other. I closed the wrong valve.
Do I get to wear the dunce cap for the week?
Thanks again

Doesn't matter HOW you got it fixed, as long as it IS fixed. Might make you think about tagging those valves though.
