I have an old house and the 1956 boiler is acting crazy and to make a long story short, needs replaced. I got some estimates and the cheapest to install a top of a line boiler is about 7,000., with the second best boiler being about 5800.

The people who had the home before us somehow managed to install air conditioning and have ducts run throughout the home and in each room and I have to say that the air conditioning works well. The only place not ducted is the basement.

My question is do you think it would be cheaper and more efficent to install a furnace and just use the exisiting ductwork that the ac now uses? Thanks as ususal for all the great help I receive here.:mask:

Yes it would be cheaper to install. No it would not be more efficient, nor would you be as comfortable particularly if your current system is zoned.

Help! my home fit in a combi boiler 11 years ago, I know was very old,but never had any problem, but last 6 months, every 3 or 4 weeks , the pilot light is not working, first I send for the professional come to had a look, but he say need to change the tank, so i did, but 6 week later, it off again, I call at him, this time he say it need to clean up , so he did, and work agin for 4 week, this time I ask him to change the new polit light for me, but he say , it is no need to change it, he just spray some stuff onto the polit light, it work again, but since that, the dam light off so many time, I just have to restart the light, but have to try so many time , some time toke me half day to make it work. The boiler still in the good order except the polit light problem, I wonder any body can tell me what is go wrong with my boiler, what should I do !

Does this boiler have a pilot which is supposed to stay lit all the time?
