Hi,
I am planning to install nail down 3/4 prefinished hardwood floor strips in a room that has sheet vinyl. The subfloor under the vinyl is 1/2inch particle board, and is pretty firm. I was wondering if the sheet vinyl can be kept in place and the wood strips can be nailed on top of the vinyl, or this should be removed.

Thanks in Advance,
Bob.

Hi Annette,
Thanks for the response. It is particle board.
Bob.

Remove the particle board and the vinyl in one tear out. You would be able to go over the vinyl had it been directly over plywood, but particle board won't hold a fastener, and you will have a squeak factory soon after installation. :wall:
