My questions is: Why can't I install a 'window' air conditioner thru the wall? My old thru the wall unit is unrepairable, but the cost to replace a thru the wall is 3x's the cost of a window unit. I already have the hole in the wall---can't I just find a 'window' unit that would fit into the existing hole and install it? What are the drawbacks to doing this?

I can't find any info on this---only people that are trying to sell me expensive thru the walls telling me this is what I have to purchase.

Thanks

yea that would wrk. all you have to do is make it fit right. the only thing is its gonna be harder to get out than a wall unit.

also make sure YOU DO NOT BLOCK THE SIDE OR TOP VENTS they are needed to help cool the unit down if they are blocked it could cause falure of the unit:eek:
