I have a condo in an apartment building (1986). The hose connecting the faucet to the toilet needed replacement. When I took tyhe hose off, the bronze piece (not sure what is called) stayed in the faucet. Now when I tried to replace the hose with the new hose, because that bronze is in the way, I can't screw in the new hose. Im thinking the only way to fix the problem now is to replace the faucet. Not a big deal however, my condo doesnt have an individual shutoff valve - everytime there is a major plumbing problem the whole building is shutoff. I dont want to go through the process of inconveniencing my neighbors - is there any tool that could get that little bronze piece out? I can tell from the new hose that little bronze peice has threading so I imagine not or it would be incredibly difficult- any suggestions? Thanks

Does the toilet have a shut off valve underneath it? Surely you don't have to shut down the entire building to work on the toilet. I am not sure what bronze piece you are talking about. If you unscrew your flex line from the toilet and from the cut off valve, you should have a 3/8" fitting on top of the cut off valve. Purchase a corresponding length of 3/8" flexible toilet valve hose, screw it up into the toilet and onto the cut off valve. Other than that, which is normally how it is done, I am at a loss to identify the piece you are talking about. Maybe posting a picture of it would help.

Hi, Is it possible you don't have a hose , but a piece of copper tubing? If that is the case the bronze piece may be a ferrel. I would put a screwdriver in the hole and gently see if iI could work it back and forth to take it out then replace it with a flex line. Be aware the threads on the angle stop (faucet) come in different sizes take the old nut wih you to get the right size.
