what's the best method to clean the coil on a trane XL1600?
this unit:
http://www.trane.com/Residential/Products/PackagedUnits/HeatPumps/PHP_XL1600.aspx
my guess is:
1. turn off power from 40amp switch
2. remove fan grill and vacuum all leaves and debris from inside around the dual compressors
3. remove the plastic grille on all three sides and gently spray inside out? (or outside in?)
close to correct?
unit's been in operation now for couple months and despite the upward draft of the top grille, lots of tree leaves collect inside, where I assumed they would automatically be suctioned out when the unit runs (but they are not)

You are thinking right, and take the water hose and blow inside out on the coils.
Use care on the wires for the fan when you put it back together.
don't use pressure washer.
