I am replacing about 500 sf of wood flooring (on grade) with bamboo because the prior owner's cat peed all over the floor.
Some of the urine also seeped through to the subfloor. To add to the problem, the subfloor is only 1/2 plywood.
I am considering two options:
1) Rip up the 1/2 plywood and replace with 3/4 plywood; or
2) Seal the existing 1/2 plywood and install another layer of 1/2 plywood over that.
If I choose option #2, what kind of sealer would I use on the urine-stained areas of the subfloor?
Thanks.

#2 option!
Paint the existing subfloor with 2 heavy coats of KILZ, penetrating primer.
