Hey all,

I have about a 16 y/o Rheem A/C Unit. I have two units due my house being 3-levels. The upper level unit is kicking my butt. I am only getting uncooled air coming through the vents.

I had an A/C friend come out and check the thermostat by jumping two wires and he said the thermostat was good. He checked the outside unit and predicted the fan motor was bad and had to be replaced.

I installed a new fan motor and capacitor. Turned on the power and went back to the thermostat to get it going. It came on...for about 5 minutes. I cannot get the fan motor to come back on unless I go outside and hit the reset button. But again, it stays on for about 5 minutes, then stops.

I'm a little afraid I might have not installed a wire in the right location, since it came with one extra.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

reset button is the high pressure switch. Make sure your condensor coil is clean.
