the fan runs but wont blow out cold air. does anybody know how to fix this. i found the leak and soldered it...but i still dont have the freon i ned (it takes refridgerent 22 [r22]) does anybody have an idea on how to recharge this. and where do i get r22 and how much does it cost. any help is much apprieiated. thank you.

I think you are now best to just retire the unit since it was not done right. Be cheaper to get a new one.

You can NOT just solder a leak shut. You now have air and moister in the system. They do not mix well in an A/C system.

Also, you have to be EPA certified to purchase and install refrigerant. As Jay said, you cannot simply solder a leak shut. It must be brazed.
Toss the unit & buy a new one. You will save money in the long run.

brazed?? what does that mean? how do i do that? my dad is epa certified... and even if he wasnt... you can get n e thing on ebay. i rather buy a new old one that works than get a bran new one. i have an ooffer for an old emerson in my area i just need to make the arrangements to pick i tup.

Solder don't hold under pressure over time, braze dose.

If your dad is EPA cerftfited, he should of made the repairs.

On a sealed system, there is a lots of steps to be done to make the system last.

Most likely the system may not last, Acid may form now in the system.
