I've just moved into a new home. I have an Aquatek water softener (dual tank) which looks fairly old. It did not have any salt in it, so I purchased three bags and filled the tank. I also have a well water, which is rather rusty, so I purchased salt that had a rust remover in it. Since filling the tank, I have noticed no difference in the rust levels in my water.

Likewise, the water softener never runs. I'm assuming it is supposed to run at night, but I have no idea how to operate it. I opened the cover and took a look, and there was two dials in it, but they didn't make any sense as to how to operate. I looked online to see if there were any instructions out there, but did not find anything that was readily available. Has anyone here worked with water softeners that can give me a quick run down of the basics on how they operate?

Also, on a side note, is there an easy way to make my well deliver more water pressure? is there a setting on a pump that i can adjust?

Thanks
