I'm currently completely gutting an old farm house my wife & I just purchased all the way down to the studs. I have run into a lot of old termite damage, but have not seen any active live bugs, or carcasses for that matter. I even have damage all the way up some studs to the second floor. After I repair all the framing that has been destroyed, what should my course of action be to make sure all of these bugs are dead & make sure the little SOB's don't come back?

Thanks,
Dan

Was a termite inspection not part of your closing procedure? Down here it always is.

I would say have a professional termite company come in and inspect.

Professional termite inspection and control is highly recommended. You might want to have this done while your studs are exposed.

Absolutely agree with twelve. The perfect time to inspect is when timbers are exposed.
My other thought is that this would be the ideal time to paint the botton plates and lower studs with a borate.
There are a number of products available for this and although I dont know a lot of what is sold in US stores like Home Depot,k I would imagine they would stock something
A structure that has a history of termite attack, is really asking to be inspected every year and if it was me, I would be looking at ongoing annual inspections.
