Draperies and Top Treatments - Traversing Curtains get Hung Up

I've got traversing rods that have curtains hanging from and when I open and close them they get hung up on where the 2 sections of the rod comes together (it is an adjustable rod). So in the back where the slider hangs down it hits the part that sticks out, so I ended up trying to slope that incline instead of having it such a sudden change by sanding down the metal a bit - that helped a little, but it still snags on there. Any ideas?

I don't think there's anything you can do about it. It's a side effect of adjustable rods :( You could get a wand or baton, tho, and use it to help lift the rings that are getting stuck.
