Hi all,

I'm having a major problem installing the supposedly simple portable AC. I need to set up a panel in my side-opening window for the exhaust and intake. The piece the unit came with is not high enough on its own - it is 28", and my window is 41" high - a side-opening one. No prob, because the unit comes with an additional sliding piece that is supposed to cover the rest of window, right? Not that simple. The problem is the piece used to cover the rest of the window is also 28", and has NO holes to vent, and I can't slide the cover piece in the back without covering up the exhaust opening!!?? I don't get this. Am I missing a piece? Am I supposed to somehow cut this thick plastic in half to allow the exhaust out? Sears phone line was useless - so anyone have any idea? The model in question here is 461-35723-06.

thanks!
mike

I looked on Sears website, and didn't come up with that model #. do you have a link or something to see what you have for sure?

This one of these system that has a hose you hook up to blow out the heat exhaust?

Here's the link:

http://www6.sears.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?categoryId=31897&catalogId=10001&storeId=10001&langId=-1&productId=158508853

As you can see form the pic, the tubes are going out a window. Now picture my window like that, except taller. Problem is, the piece you see in the picture is too short for my opening, and the extra piece they give you will block that upper vent when I slide it behind the original piece.

thanks!
mike

Ok, I'd cut the extra piece just enough that you can fill in the void, and not block the opening.
