Is the lineset needed for the R410a refrigerant different in size/diameter than the lineset needed for the R22?

Is it the same?

I will be installing a 3ton system.

410a requires a higher pressure system to function, the whole system, the air handler, and the heat pump and the line sets will need to be changed out. this is not at all a do it yourself type job.
the pressure of the system requires a whole diferrent angle how to take care of the job.

I'm getting a Trane 14SEER R410a unit as well as the air handler.
It is a new system but the duct work was all done when the house was built 5 years ago, the lineset is also insalled from attic to basement.

When I had that done a few years ago we never discussed R22/R410a at all, the company just installed the ductwork and lineset, I'm just wondering if mine is ready for R410a, how can I tell?

If the lines were installed five years ago unless the ends were sealed shut they should be replaced regardless if they are the right size or not.
Your installer can tell you what size lines you need.
