I'm thinking in pouring some concrete in a 4x4 square base to install a condenser unit. It will be on the side of the house and I will pour the concrete against the house foundation.
My question is, how many inches are needed free between the foundation and the unit ?
I first thought about leaving 8 inches but my friend says his unit is 16 inches away from the foundation..

there are pads (made mostly out of hard plastics) that will , and are able, to take care of the situation. if you still want to put down a cement pad, 2" should be enough deep , and keep it away from the structure enough to allow a tech to work on the unit.

call your installer to see what the dimensional size of the actual unit is and do move the edge of the unit at least 12" from the foundation so the poor ole service guy can at least reach his hand around that side when he has to fix the silly thing.

We are glad to help but these are all questions you should be asking your installer. All equipment has specs for spacing & they are not all the same.
