Hi,
I want to move my hot water heater closer to my furnace to make room for a small laundry room. How close can I put the water heater to the furnace?
thanks

Just make sure you don't block it to a point where you/we can't get to the furnace for service ease.

How close you may move the water heater to the furnace depends on the manufacturer's minimum clearance specifications for both the furnace and the water heater.

Many gas furnaces allow zero clearance on certain sides but all require significant clearance in front of the access panel(s) to allow servicing.

The water heater may also have clearance issues for the "sides" and service access.

Lastly, your local building/mechanical codes may have something to say about clearances that could override the manufacturer's minimums.
