i have a home that is 10 years old. i just bought it last summer, so idon't really have any history with this house. the furnace is a carrier weather maker 9200. it has an electric pilot starter, really all there is to do to light it is to turn a dial from off to on. i've followed the instructions to the letter and have gotten nothing. i never turned the furnace off, i just think the pilot may have went out on it's own when the warmer weather set in. can i do anything else???

There is a rod ( looks like a thermocouple in a hot water heater) to the side of your burner. use a scouring pad (dry)like the kind on the back of a sponge, and clean the rod all the way around. You can remove this part for better access, but leaving it in also works. You might not be able to see any dirt on the ignitor, but the sysem is very sensitive to build up.
