Our house is the old blonde color brick. I would LOVE to stain it. I don't want to paint it because then it doesn't look like brick. I want it to still look like brick but be a different color. Does anyone know of any products that do this?

It can be done, but is not a DIY type project, nor is it cheap to have done. What part of the world are you in?

Louisiana....I had read there is a product you can buy from brick yards and spray the home.

I saw a recent HGTV show where they lightly dry-brushed on white paint to make brick look lighter and different. There was not complete coverage of bricks. Very little paint was on the brush. The paint was lightly dabbed on brick here and there and then lightly brushed. The brick did not look painted.

That sounds great but the problem is our brick is too light already.

If you find a product to spray on, it will stain the mortar too. Then it might look like the house was painted anyway.

That is one of the reasons it is expensive to do~ It isn't sprayed on, the face of each brick is individually stained. It does work well, though.

Make sure the stain is UV resistant if you want any degree of permanence, especially on a non-absorbant material like brick (either clay or concrete).

Any wood stains or organic stain is out; stains containing iron oxides and similar materials are good.

Thanks...I was thinking we would have to paint each brick. Which I know would take forever, but the ending product would be worth it.

Does anyone know of the specific product that will work?

I don't know of any that are DIY grade, sorry, other than regular paint, which has it's own set of issues.
