I live in the northeast and I want to build a deck. I'm planning on using pressure treated lumber, and I'm not sure on what the best fastener is: nail or screw?
Thanks in advance.

Screws. Newer PT wood has copper in it, so you have to be careful to pick a screw that won't react with that and corrode. Expensive, but I like to use stainless steel.

I like the Deckmate screws myself.

Thanks... Are there any issues with nails?

When the wood warps and the nails pull out a bit, it makes it hard to shovel the snow off for a barbeque.

Tough on the toes in the summertime too...
Screws for sure. Nails WILL lift.

When you are ready to install the deck boards, check the end grain and place the convex grain side down. This will help prevent cupping.

To install the deck boards -- SCREWS! And they are going into ACQ PT framing, so S.S. screws. Trap-Ease, Deck Mate, etc.
Framing the deck, use ONLY HD galvanized nails and bolts. ACQ will destroy anything aluminum in a matter of months, and plain steel in about a year.
