Hello All:
I have deck plans that call for 2 2x8's for the joist support beams. I order to lower the overall height of the deck (I would like to keep its finished height as close to ground level as possible), I'd like to use steel I beams in place of the 2x8's. What size steel I beam would I need to use in order to maintain the same structural integrity? Pier spacing (which the 2 2x8's would rest on) is 6.5 feet and joists are 2x6 12"O.C. in case this info is needed. Thanks for your input.
