My wife and I were considering turning a badly builit sunroom into a covered porch. It looks like it would be a simple job. I want to take out two walls and place decorative support beams in place. What should I expect to encounter or watch out for?

Welcome to the forums. This is a first for me, as most of my customers want to change a badly build porch into a glamorous sunroom. You have to determine the load bearing points on the sunroom and adhere to them as cutting them out will surely cause a deflection and damage. If you are not comfortable with this, call in a structural engineer for advice. Removing the windows and walls will be pretty straightforward once you have the structure identified. You will have to decorate the supports you have into better looking pieces if you want, and add others for balance.
Good luck with the project and post back if we can help during the process.
