We are having a new home built in the far west burbs of Chicago. It is a 2 story with about 2,600 sq ft. We are upgrading to 2x6 walls (R-19). R-38 will be used in the ceiling and Crestline windows will be installed. My question is which furnace to have installed. The house comes standard with a Carrier 80% efficiency furnace. We would like to upgrade. Our options are:
1. a 91% effieciency, single stage Carrier furnace (58STA1016)for an upgrade charge of $1,450;
or,
2. a 93% effieciency, dual stage Carrier furnace for an upgrade charge of $1,885;
or/and
3. a dual zone system (basement and first floor on one zone and upstairs on second zone) for an upgrade charge of $2,000.

Any input into our decision would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

For a two story home I would suggest two seperate systems. With Chicagos weather at least go with the 91%.
