HELP !!!
while I was at work my hot water heater started leaking & now I can't figure out where to cut the water off so I can remove it, any ideas ?? it is an A.O. Smith model #KGA 40 982

If you look at where the water lines goes into the unit, the water heater will be labeled/stamped "HOT" and the other will be labeled "COLD". Follow the cold line intill you find a valve. If there is none for some reason you'll have to shut the water off at the meter.
While it's down , if there's not an isolation valve now is the time to put one in.

Thank You !! that is exactly what I ended up doing (shutting the water off @ the meter, the cut off is under the house & @ 3am that was NOT an option, what a mess I have, getting a new one with a cutoff on it :)
