I have an old home (cir 1888)located in VA with a front porch approx 8' x 30' whose wood tongue and groove boards are rotted in several places, 12'' in from the front edge. The porch is covered, but has an western exposure so some rain hits the front edge with little sun reaching it duer to some large boxwoods right in front. In one spot the wood is rotted to the joists. An inspection show the joist to be ok, for now. Several bids suggested I use a product called Tendura, a composite, instead of wood to avoid having to redo the job every eight years or so. The Tendura will be painted with an oil-based Siiking paint and has a lifetime guarentee. It all sounds good. The price for the Tendura is about $2,000 more than the wood choices. From what I've researched the Tendura seems to be the best option for durablity and appearence. Anyone have experince with this they care to comment on?

I haven't had experience with this product, but others on the forum will be here shortly. I do advocate replacing the porch decking with a similar product to retain a little historical ambiance, rather than just decking materials.
