Good Morning,

I am getting ready to "rip down" and rebuild and add to my deck that is attached to my house. My question is about Composite. I am trying to do some research on which brand to do (Choicedek, Veranda, or Trex). Anybody have any suggestions or recommendations? I would like one that does not fade to much the deck is in full sun all day. Area is Virginia. Thanks for any help you can provide me.

Short answer: They all fade, but grey fades the least.

HD and Lowes stock Veranda and Choicedeck - both are cheaper and more highly rated by Consumer Reports than is Trex. However, HD (verande) and Lowes (choicedeck) only stock in one or two colors (grey and one shade of brown sometimes), and would charge you 20-30% more for a different color.

I preferred Veranda over Choicedeck - only becuase I liked the two-sides of Veranda - they give you a choice of a wood-grain or combed appearance. But it was a narrow margin for choice there. Veranda was slightly higher rated in CR.

Good luck!

You get what you pay for and lighter colors seem to have less trouble with fading. As mentioned, they all do fade somewhat.
