Mt 1970's home has a cultured stone fireplace facade. I'm considering updating this feature with flagstone or marble tiles. As a reasonably handy weekend warrior I'm wondering if the stone removal is something I should take on or leave strictly for a pro?
If the feedback is to give it a try what about methods/tools to get the job done. Any comments are greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Welcome to the forums
My oldest stepson removed the cultured stone from his fireplace surround and he isn't overly handy. I think he just used a hammer and chisel. Be sure to cover up the area so you can contain the mess.
