I am installing a rain barrel at the downspout. I would like to build a platform hihg enough that I do not have to bend over to much.

I am going to use a 42 gallon barrel for cathing rain water. If anybody has any design ideas or knows of a good tutorial site that could walk me through building this platform so it will be able to hold the weight without any worries, I would be extremely happy.

Thanks everybody! Keep up the good work on this website.

water weighs about 8 pounds per gallon, so 42 gallons would weigh in the neighborhood of 340 pounds..
--how high do you want the barrel off of the ground?

simple 2x4 framing can easily hold the weight.
post back with some dimensions and/or exactly what you are looking for. like how high is the barrel going to be off of the ground, permanent or temporary structure, etc.
