Can someone tell me whether a 4" B-type flue is adequate for a 75k BTUH water heater, if the flue has two 45 degree bends, one 60 degree bend, is 25 ft long, and has a horizontal offset of 6 ft?

I found a demo version of a software package, but only accommodates up to 40K BTUH. Any help or direction is appreciated.

Thanks,
Jeff

43 views and no replies? tough question, I know. However, I did find my answer at the public library in the National Fire Code NFPA standard 54. Thanks anyway for the forum, a bunch of good questions and answers here.

Sorry no one responded.

My reply would have been that the 2 resources for the information are (1) the installation manual for the WH should have specific venting requirements. (2) The National Fuel Gas Code is generally the authority on this issue.

With the 6 ft. horizontal offset it's not a good Idea.
54 degree angles are ok. Where is it located ? in the basement ?
Is there a way to repipe the gas to a location as not to have such a long horizontal run ?

I was a service tech for a propane company's for 20 years.
And did alot of installations of heating units and water heaters.

I know that with Propane and even Nat gas. the vent cant span 6' horizontally.

Hope this helps
