I recently exposed a brick fireplace in my home. It was covered with drywall and the old plaster walls. I have removed the plaster but there is still a fine layer of dust coating the bricks which seems very difficuly to remove.

Any good products or ideas for this?

Thanks!

You could use TSP (tri sodium phosphate), or muratic acid, but the acid should be a last resort, as it will eat anything it touches and will have to be rinsed down, so if it is a finished area, I wouldn't use it. You are using the best method available, but you may want to try a brass brush on the stubborn areas. It won't tend to scar the brick or mortar face.
