Dish Network told me that the only thing my dvr would record was their satellite programs, after decoding, of course. Your Direct may be similar. You could always call their tech line and ask.

I do not beleive a DTV DVR works that way. It records the Video that is unscrambled from DTV before it is sent to your TV. But I do not own one. Does it have Video inputs (S-Video IN or just Video IN) But if it doesn't have any Video - IN it will not work. I googled for a operator manual for a DTV DVR but came up empty handed. What is the model number of the DTV DVR?
I have a standalone security DVR that I like verry much...I have this DVR 160Gig HD but only 4 channel it came with 4 color cameras that are B/W with IR at night all for under $1K (http://maureenscreations.zoovy.com/product/DVR8CD)

I am using Svideo from DVR to TV now. DVR has 1 un used RF input on back with coax connection. Also has Video & audio RCA Output jacks from DVR. My Plasma TV has several Video Audio inputs still available to use. Do you know of a way to use these connections,to run the camera video then set DVR to record it?:wall:

Security/CCTV cameras can be viewed through the RCA jack video inputs on most newer TV and Recorder devices. They cannot input via the Coax input. They just output a straight NTSC video signal.
