Hi,

I need to buy a bathroom vent/fan combo. I want one with a damper that seals ALL air moment either way until the fan comes on so it does not act like a chimney allowing warm air in house to escape unless I have turned the vent on. From what I read the dampers only seem to prevent air from backflowing.

Am I wrong to want this? If not, anyone know of one that will do what I want?

Thanks, Rich

flowersrj,

What you asking for is pretty much not going to happen. A TOTAL seal is really not achievable unless I am unaware of something. What little leaves or even enters a home is minimal. These are not great sources of heat loss unless the damper is open. You get far more heat loss when the fan is in operation.

Check these out - good brand.

Hope this helps!
