I have a ride on lawn tractor with a B&S engine. It starts and runs well for awhile (about 1/2 hr). Then it shuts down. It will not start again for some time, untill it cools back down. Stumped! Any ideas as to why this is happening?

To me it sounds like a failing coil (fails under the high heat from the engine, stops giving spark till it cools back down enough) check for spark right when it cuts off, be careful, use pliers as the plug will be hot. If no spark then its the coil. Is this a single or twin cylinder engine?

I agree, sounds like a bad coil. Check for spark. The flathead twin cylinder engines commonly have this problem, and the singles do occasionally.
