Hi All,
I have a window in my family room for which I am getting some drapes made. There will be two panels, each 132 inches in length. The total width of the window is 132 inch + I will add 12 inches on either side so it comes to 156 inches. The drapes will be 2 and half in width.
My question is: how to install them. I was told I couldget 2 8ft rods and join them together and cut off the sides to make the actual width. How do I get the rods against the wall. Will holding the rods on the two ends be enough, or I need to have some support in the middle too. What are the C rings? I would like the curtains to be functional, but I do not want traverse rods.
Any suggestions will really help.
Thanks a lot

If you're talking about wood poles, yes you can join them together with a double sided screw. For that length you'll definitely need a center support, and in fact, I'd put two. You need to mount brackets to hold the rod. You can buy these at Home Depot, Lowes, Bed Bath and Beyond, JCPenneys, Target or any place that sells drapery hardware. If you will be using more than one support, I would join the wood where each support will be, to hide the joins.
If you want them functional, yes you'll need C Rings, which are C shaped, so they can go over the center brackets. I'm not sure if they come in wood, and you'll probably have to order them someplace online. I don't know of a store that sells them.
Usually custom workrooms are able to get the hardware you need, for you, and install it, too. Have you asked the person making the draperies for you, if they could help?
