I have a couple of used Schlage entrance locksets laying around. I have lost he keys. Schlage locks are a good quality product and I have use for them now.

Can a hardware guy at the likes of a Home Depot or Lowe's simply rekey these locks or do I have to have the original keys for that to be accomplished?

Of course I expect to pay for the service but maybe I should just purchase new entrance sets.

The locksmith at Home Depot or Lowe's will need one original key from the locks in order to re-key them.

To add to Nomad's reply, a true locksmith (as opposed to a person trained to do rekeys which you typically find at the home stores and need the original key) would not need the keys but it is easier when you have them.

Depending on the quality and condition of the locks, it may be worth it if you dropped them off at a lockshop. Get some local quotes to decide for sure.

Schlage is a decent quality, fairly pricey lock. I think it would be worth paying a locksmith to rekey, rather than buying replacements.
