It's been quite a while since I bored out an engine. Does boring out an engine (0.010, 0.020 or 0.030) always require an oversized piston?

Yes. The clearances involved require a new piston with any overbore.

Yep, need oversized piston and rings. Is this on the 5hp briggs engine block? I don't know how close you are to SW. Ga., but I have a few good blocks and would be glad to give you one if it would save you the trouble of boring yours out.

The numbers on it are M - 130202, T - 0135-10, C - 73091407. As you can see its an old 1973 model. The cylinder was 2.562". I called Briggs and Stratton in Norcross Georgia and they don't make a short block anymore. If you think you might can help, just drop me an e-mail at jboggan511@charter.net
